Who Cares about Spilt Milk?

Teagan, fittingly dressed in her "I Love Daddy" outfit, learned on Sunday afternoon that Daddy was returning to work the next day. Daddy, who doesn't even have an "I Love Teagan" outfit, did not look much better.

From One Beginning to Another

On Sunday afternoon Teagan met JoAnn and Harold, dear friends from St Mary's Orthodox Cathedral in Northeast Minneapolis. They brought very useful gifts for Teagan and plenty of love for all three Bassetts.

Serving as their wedding sponsors, JoAnn and Harold have been with the Bassett family from the beginning. JoAnn is also Andrea's godmother.

Keeping up with the Copas

Soon after telling our friends that we were expecting, we learned that Jodi and Vince were also expecting - within a week of our due date. The race was on...

Natalia arrived a full 3 weeks before Teagan and weighed over a pound more. The family totals: Copas 7 / Bassetts 3. Who won? The Bassetts, as they will be Natalia's proud godparents.

Magnetic Bookends

Teagan, just shy of two weeks, and Alick, nearly 94, are the youngest and oldest at our church. We referred to the pair as the beginning and the end, but Alick preferred before and after.

Steve has a magnetic smile that draws children to him. We're just not sure who gains more in the exchange.

Anything for You, Dear

Life is filled with sacrifices. Kathy was unable to stop by and meet Teagan this past Thursday, but her dutiful husband Rick was more than willing to make the sacrifice for her. He came bearing food and flowers, both of which were much appreciated. My only regret is that I did not reward this noble man's efforts with a bottle of home brew.

Times Fun When You're Having Flies

Teagan loved her new frog pajamas so much that she did her best frog impersonation. She's got the look, but she's still working on the 'ribbit'.

"She dotes on poetry, sir. She adores it; I may say that her whole soul and mind are wound up, and entwined with it. She has produced some delightful pieces, herself, sir. You may have met with her 'Ode to an Expiring Frog,' sir."

Teagan's 1 Week Check-up

Teagan was trying to do the math... She couldn't believe that she was already over a week old. On Wednesday morning the doctor told her that she weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces (up 3 ounces in the last 5 days) and she was almost 19 inches tall. She thought that this was all happening too fast... Then her stinky umbilical cord fell off. Maybe growing older isn't so bad after all.

Eating is a Family Affair

Grandma holds granddaughter while daughter cuts Grandma's food and Dad snaps a picture. With Italian Opera and candlelight ambience, what could be a more perfect way to celebrate Teagan's 1 week birthday?
