On Sunday, September 27th, Dan and Andrea became the proud Godparents of Natalia Copa (see post: Keeping up with the Copas).
Natalia is immersed in the baptismal waters three times: in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Her Godfather Dan stands by with a towel to receive her.
After the baptism, Natalia is carried by her Godparents around the Gospel and the baptismal waters three times. Their procession is lead by the cross and is followed by the children in the church. (For more information on the Orthodox baptismal liturgy, see post: Baptized into Christ.)
Dan and Andrea are honored to have this connection with the Copa family and Teagan is excited to have a new God-sister. So where was Teagan during the baptismal liturgy? Happily in the arms of her Godmother Barb.
I really like it when you talk about me. I have much less competition when it comes to your family. At home I can get lost in the shuffle. By the way you could have mentioned me being the tonsure Queen.
ReplyDeleteYes Natalia, you are the tonsure Queen. Given the amount and length of your hair, I was surprised that Fr Jonathan didn't break in the liturgical clippers for the occasion... Teagan, of course, is very jealous of your hair.
