Clear Skies, Low Humidity

Taking a hot shower can be quite relaxing, that is if the shower stops when the water is turned off. The Bassetts were finding that their tropical bathroom climate wasn't agreeing with their bungalow's new windows or old woodwork. (See post: New Life for Old Windows)

It is always nerve-racking to cut a hole in side of your house, especially when winter is looming; but the set-up was perfect: a 30" straight run to the outside for the vent pipe, floor joists parallel to the vent run providing a clear path, and balloon frame construction meaning no rim joist to cut through. The quiet but powerful fan is conducive with the Bassetts' relaxing showers and their bungalow appreciates the forecast of clear skies with low humidity.

  1. Wow. I'm impressed. I've replaced windows, put in a kitchen, but cutting a hole in an outside wall where there was none before—that takes guts!
