Some Memories are Better Remembered

Our family tradition, though seldom practiced, is to set up the Christmas tree on or near St. Nicholas Day (December 6th). On Friday night Dan assembled the tree from Andrea's childhood - a tree that only sentiment could love. After placing the color-coded branches in the wooden trunk and drilling more holes for those extra branches that never seemed to have a home, the tree still rivaled Charlie Brown's. Next came the lights, but not just any lights - bubble lights... lights from Dan's childhood that adorned a real tree overburdened with countless ornaments and destined to be tipped over by the family basset-hound seeking water. While Dan and Andrea gazed at their tree, they realized some memories are better remembered. Happy St. Nicholas Day!
